Letter: What have you done?

The Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior ought to pay a visit to Aspen in order to observe up close and personal how the American West has been systematically ruined.

After having comfortably spent the night in their ‘modestly priced’ rooms, they then participate next morning in RFTA’s all day/every day environmental tourism cattle-drive to “Maroon Pond” and make their assessment.

Upon their return, they spend an hour or so in the Aspen Recreation Center (ARC) lobby and evaluate the humankind (and its activity) which passes through there, and its fitness and knowledge for wilderness living.

Upon returning to town, and in need of lunch, they struggle though the mass of cell phone afflicted humanity (and its now sick canine population) hoping to avoid being struck by a car, truck, jeep, ATV, motorcycle, limo, or bus.

Following an afternoon nap, and having completed the day’s journey, they proceed, during Aspen’s 5 p.m. traffic hour, to Sardy Field frustrated, exhausted, and bewildered.

Having then guzzled the first of their well-deserved martinis aboard their G-5, they conclude: “We should write a letter!”

“To the Aspen City Council, the Aspen Chamber Resort Association (ACRA), and the Aspen Board of Realtors: Have you given any thought to what you’ve done?”
