Letter: We’re choking on our congestion
We’re choking on our congestion
Dear Editor:
The Aspen congestion and one-lane bottlenecking are a problem for many.
Even if you fly your private jet into Aspen, you still sit in traffic while being chauffeured to you Aspen “cottage” like all tourists and worker bees!
Aspen dwellers have been complaining via editorials about noise and pollution in Aspen. They obviously live in town and do not have to see the extensive back-up of idling autos — spewing carbon emissions — waiting to merge!
It was even stated in last week’s newspapers that “Lunchtime traffic jamming the roundabout hindered the response of at least one fire-response vehicle coming from town.”
That is going out of town at lunchtime! So it is safe to say that there is an all-day traffic issue at the entrance to and exit from Aspen. What a way to say, “Welcome to Aspen, and thanks for visiting Aspen!”
Fix this problem first and that will greatly minimize some pollution: both noise and emission.
