Letter: Van Beek for sheriff

Dear Eagle County residents,

As the elected sheriff of Eagle County from 1983 to 2003, I am writing this letter in support of James Van Beek, Republican candidate for Eagle County sheriff.

I worked with James for more than 12 years, and during that time I found him to be morally just, compassionate and someone who would listen to and help others.

James always has been enthusiastic and committed and could be trusted to carry out assignments and organizational values as a deputy, a field training officer and an investigator.

Over the years, James has grown in many directions, demonstrating self-respect, competence, commitment, integrity and leadership skills. He will give 100 percent to see that an established mission is accomplished within the parameters of public safety, customer service, fiscal responsibility and our Constitution.

James is an involved and committed member of the community, and he will be a good sheriff who will represent all residents and guests of all ages — someone you can trust and have confidence in.

I encourage you to support and vote for James Van Beek in the Republican primary on June 24.

A.J. Johnson

Former Eagle County sheriff
