Letter: Thrift Shop of Aspen scholarship recipients
Every spring, the scholarship committee for The Thrift Shop of Aspen is honored to select recipients for college scholarships. It is a nearly impossible task to choose only six candidates from the dozens of highly qualified and worthy applicants. This year we are proud to congratulate the following students:
Aspen High School
Erik Phillips — California Polytechnic University
Anthony Carreno — University of San Francisco
Nicole Zell — Culinary Institute of America
In honor of our 65 birthday, an additional scholarship for a female student from Aspen High School, who particularly embodies the spirit of community service and volunteerism was chosen:
Sage Lucero — Savannah College of Art and Design
Basalt High School
Berta Rivera — University of Colorado Boulder
Roaring Fork High School
Alexa Maes — University of Denver
We are able to continue to provide these generous awards due to the support of community members who donate gently used items and clothing and to the shoppers who purchase them.

Vote for Kimbo Brown-Schirato for council. She’s the right choice at the right time for Aspen. She listens, works extremely well with others, and she’s effective.
