Letter: Thanks for supporting law enforcement

From everyone at the Aspen Police Department and the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, we would like to thank the Aspen Elks Lodge No. 224 for hosting its Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner on May 19. We would like to extend additional thanks for the hospitality shown by members of Elks Lodge No. 224 to the families of our officers, deputies and dispatchers and the acknowledgement of their role in providing daily support to our officers in their policing careers.

The dinner, held in recognition of National Law Enforcement Memorial Day and National Police Week, was a reminder to all of how fortunate we are to live and work in Aspen. Policing around the nation continues to be in the public eye, rightly being held to high standards. We wish to underscore our dedication to listening to our community and to continually improving our relationships with residents and visitors alike.

The Aspen Police Department and Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office deeply appreciate the support and trust the Elks and the community place in us as peace officers.
