Letter: Texan filibusterer keynote speaker for Dems

Texan filibusterer keynote speaker for Dems

Dear Editor:

On Wednesday, Aug. 14, the Pitkin County Democratic Party will be honored to host Texas Sen. Wendy Davis as the keynote speaker for our 3rd Annual Pitkin County Democrats Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the T Lazy 7 Ranch.

Tickets include Hickory House barbecue dinner and cash bar and may be purchased at the link on our website: http://www.PitkinCountyDemocrats.org. ( tickets must be purchased before Monday).

On June 25, through the magic of the Internet, citizens worldwide witnessed the courage and tenacity Sen. Davis demonstrated on the floor of the Texas Senate in her historic filibuster of a bill that would dramatically limit access for women’s health clinics in the state of Texas. Senator Davis’ actions are an example of how one voice can effect change. Join us on Wednesday, Aug 14, to hear from this truly inspirational individual.

Sen. Gail Schwartz and Rep. Millie Hamner will also be among our guests. Come join us for this memorable and historical dinner. Please buy your tickets today, you don’t want to miss this special evening.

Blanca O’Leary, Chair

Mike Simmons, Vice Chair/Treasurer

Wes Graham, Secretary,

Pitkin County Democratic Party
