Letter: Take advantage of rivers
Once the Pan and Fork trailers were removed, an astonishing community asset was revealed: the confluence of two spectacular trout streams, smack in the center of a charming town!
If Basalt handles this property responsibly, the town, which was once a way station, will be forever a powerful magnet for both residents and visitors. Businesses will also benefit.
Don’t ruin this rare, beautiful vista for the profits of a few. New hotels and condos get put up all the time. Nobody’s making any new rivers.
