Support the Longhorns

We invite the Basalt community to show the love for Basalt High School’s student-athletes at the last few home games of the season on Valentine’s Day weekend.

We have two big games coming up this weekend: Friday against Gunnison (junior varsity at 4 p.m., varsity girls at 5:30 p.m. and varsity boys at 7 p.m.) and Saturday against Grand Valley (junior varsity at 1 p.m., varsity girls at 2:30 p.m. and varsity boys at 4 p.m.).

To encourage young basketball players to come to the games, any Basalt elementary or middle school students wearing their basketball jerseys or basketball sweatshirts can get into the games totally free.

We’re hoping all Basalt sports fans and Basalt High School alumni will come out and support our teams. The high school Booster Club will have discounted Longhorn gear and great concessions for sale that support all athletics at the school. It’s Longhorn Roundup Spirit Week, so there will be other surprises at the games, too.

And if you already have plans to be out of town for the long President’s Day weekend, you can catch our last home game of the season, a big rivalry game against Aspen, Feb. 19 (junior varsity at 4 p.m., varsity girls at 5:30 p.m. and varsity boys at 7 p.m.).

Thank you for showing the love for Basalt High School.

Keep Crown Mountain Park free to all

An entrepreneur’s plea for a rushed commitment from Crown Mountain Park directors on his proposal for a 90,000-square-foot, indoor “sportsplex” should be delayed for proper vetting.
