Letter: Students call for gun control
We are four Basalt Middle School students. We have recently read a book called “Kokopelli’s Flute,” by Will Hobbs. In the book, the issue of lack of gun control was brought to our attention. I’m sure you have heard about the Arapahoe High School shooting and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. This is a huge problem in the U.S. Every 17 minutes someone dies from a gun. Since 1985, there have been 124 shootings in the U.S. We would really appreciate your vote for more gun control. E ven if there is no vote coming soon, please vote when the time comes.
If anyone from Congress sees this, please vote within the government. Please vote for the safety of you and the children at the U.S. schools. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We really hope that you decide to vote for more gun control and help solve the problem of the many deaths per year from guns.
