Letter: Stevens’ experience best for Basalt
Why am I voting for Rick Stevens for Mayor of Basalt in the upcoming election?
I can trust Rick to make decisions that are in the best interest of the residents of Basalt and for the long-term future of Basalt.
Rick’s long experience in civic service, willingness to listen and collaborative approach give him the ability to make the right decisions and to do so in a manner that brings out the best in our residents.
Rick understands the challenges facing the residents of Basalt: Soaring taxes, lack of affordable housing, insufficient day care facilities for our children, increasing cost of living that makes it difficult for the younger generation to move to Basalt and for the older generation to stay, a struggling downtown, and division over the Pan and Fork parcel when in fact voters settled the issue by a 2 to 1 margin in November 2013 by approving specific acreage for both park and development.
With Rick as mayor, we can look forward to addressing Basalt’s challenges in a cooperative and productive spirit.
