Letter: Solving the Israel-Palestine conundrum

Bravo to Messrs. Emmer, Altman and Mazer! The Israel-Palestine conundrum is far too complex for a casual visitor to solve, however well-intentioned he may be.

The conflict goes back at least as far as the Muslim conquest of the area in A.D. 638 and the hegemonic decision to build not one but two mosques upon Judaism’s most sacred site: the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Today, despite that history, Israel grants free rein to the Muslim administrators of the Temple Mount while freedom of religion is guaranteed to all under Israeli governance of the holy city.
