Letter: Senseless drone killings

Drone killings — American missiles fired by unmanned aircraft — have become so normal, they rarely cause objections. President Obama has escalated their use. Whether it is in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen or Somalia, we rarely see the faces of the dead and wounded.

It is a disgrace that Obama or a U.S. officer near Las Vegas can decide based on satellite pictures, mobile phone calls, etc., who should die. How can we assassinate without “due process?” Killing civilians and children has become an acceptable “mistake.” The library has the DVD, “Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars,” a Robert Greenwald Film which tells about the impact on some of the victims and their families. It also has comments from a former American drone operator.
