Letter: Right choices for Roaring Fork School District
Our kids in the Roaring Fork School District (Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt and Old Snowmass) are walking out to modulars to go to class due to overcrowding. Our crumbling buildings are the best of ’70s architecture. And our state ranks 43rd in the nation in per-pupil spending. Talk is cheap when it comes to taking care of the next generation. Fortunately, you can act right now. Whether or not you have children in public schools, you can vote for school board members and for bond issue 3B. I urge you to vote for businesswoman, community volunteer and mom Jen Rupert. Jen wants to elevate our schools for all children. She has the passion, leadership skills and time to do the job. Jen is committed to being a proactive, non-status-quo board member who will be available valleywide to listen to concerns and questions and to act. Please also vote “yes” on 3B to make much-needed capital improvements as well as provide teacher affordable housing, making it easier to attract and retain talented teachers, the key to good education. Completed mail-in ballots are due by Nov. 3.
