Letter: Remembering Gunilla Asher

Remembering Gunilla Asher

On behalf of the Starwood Homeowners Association and Metropolitan District Board members and property owners, I would like to express our feelings of loss and admiration for our beloved Gunilla Asher.

Gunilla, wife of Mark Asher, the Starwood manager, was, as so many have already described, an amazing lady. The Ashers are a very special Starwood community family, and Charles Israel, Gunilla’s father, was a member of the Starwood board for many years. The work ethic that Mark and Gunilla have consistently demonstrated is exemplary, as demonstrated by their compassion for others and dedication to achieving excellent results in whatever tasks they tackled.

Starwood’s sincere condolences go to the Israel and Asher families.

Gunilla adamantly hoped that her sons would always remember her. She knew, as do we, that Mark will be a model, caring father as he nurtures Charles and David in their developing years. And, we know that the months ahead, without their devoted wife and mother, will often be challenging and painfully lonely for Mark, little Charlie and David.

So, I hope that as we say goodbye to Gunilla today, each of you will stand steadfastly with me to give our pledge to Mark, Charlie and David to forever support, love and assist them — and to help them always remember Gunilla. As one of her many Aspen Times friends noted, Gunilla will be among one of the “brightest shining stars” guiding the family she so dearly loved. Gunilla’s spirit will always be in our hearts.

Also, the Starwood boards would like to praise and acknowledge Allison Daily and the many participants of the Pathfinders organization who, for months, have provided meals and tremendous support to the Asher family.
