Letter: Religion stymies progress

Israel keeps saying that Jerusalem will never be divided and that the Palestinians cannot have their “capital” in East Jerusalem. Many peace plans say that because East Jerusalem was “annexed” illegally, the Arab neighborhoods, which have 275,000 Palestinians, will go to Palestine and the Jewish neighborhood to Israel.

Now, for a Palestinian capital there is plenty of vacant land that Israel can give. Just a few acres should do in the Palestinian neighborhoods. I was there two years ago.

But, let’s face it, this “tug of war” is religious. As for me, all religions are the worst form of politics and greed.
