Letter: Reckless growth

In regard to Trader Joe’s coming to the Roaring Fork Valley, do you think we can let the paint dry on Whole Foods before adding another commercial grocer?

This want for growth unwittingly parallels Hannibal Lecter’s desire for the cerebral cortex — he just has to have it!

Do you remember the huge herd of elk that used to live and graze in Willits before the subdivision, and the outpouring of concerned residents to figure a way to help that herd survive and thrive?

It appears as if the minds of some folk, like that herd of elk, are gone forever.

As Woody Allen said, “More than at any time in history mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.”

Grow smart. Think of the footprint!

Just sayin’.
