Letter: Rec center a worthy investment

Rec center a worthy investment

Amenities often define communities. Trails, parks, libraries, community gathering places and most recreation options are not money-makers, but enhance the quality of life in any community. The recreation center at Crown Mountain will be such an amenity. This facility will promote physical and community health, raising the desirability of living in the midvalley. Whenever it becomes time to sell my home, the rec center will be mentioned as a piece of the great community, recreational, and cultural package that comes with living in our valley.

Several years from now, if a teenager chooses to play basketball while others ski — great. If a senior opts to take a yoga or dance class while some bicycle — wonderful. If a family is able to swim while others hike — good for them.

The more opportunities our community has available for physical activity, the better. If we can be a part of encouraging physical and mental wellness, then we should go for it.

The proposed recreation center will become a community gathering place for teens, seniors, individuals and families. There will be something for everybody. By choosing to vote yes on 4C and 4D, you are making an investment in the quality of life in the midvalley community.
