Letter: Outraged by RFTA eggs

Dear Editor:

As of this writing, our nation is $16.8 trillion in debt. One would think that federal grant money for projects would be highly scrutinized to assure taxpayers that their money is being well spent.

How have the Roaring Fork Transporation Authority’s rapid-transit upgrades gotten away with including so much waste? The new $250,000 (each) bus stops will now have snowmelt systems (which RFTA wants to be exempt from paying the mitigation fee) and the best — giant eggs that complement the dinosaur theme of our new transit system.

I bet those who have been devastated by natural disasters around the U.S. over the past year would be just as outraged as I am to know where their hard-earned tax money is going.
