Letter: Negotiate, don’t retaliate

It appears that my letter of last week needs clarification for some (“Community needs to grow up and play nice,” Letters, Jan. 7, Aspen Daily News). I never implied that we allow a free run for developers! I succinctly and simply (I thought) pointed out that it is in the best interests of all residents to up the bar. We need to be more positive, mature and communicative. The developers are here, and they want to move forward. We need to negotiate on a higher level and make sure that what is built is in the best interests of all involved (and holds on to some of our paradise). It behooves us all to avoid retaliation. In other words, play at least as nicely as we can, and work together!
