More Colorado nordic events would be nice

Thanks so much for printing The Associated Press article titled “High schoolers soar in New Hampshire; only ski jumping state.”

I emigrated from the Lake and Mt. Sunapee region of New Hampshire to Aspen in 1983 and did a little jumping in my youth. After moving, I wondered why there weren’t more nordic events here.

Our high school, New London, competed against Newport, the town mentioned in the article, regularly. They probably still do.

In the early 1990s while performing music in Steamboat Springs (big jumping town), we met the Junior Olympics coach and had the privilege of being drafted as markers on the outrun for the young contenders the next day. I’m proud to have helped some of these jumpers make their way to the Junior Olympics.

Stand at the top of a 90-meter jump, look down the in-run and those bumps on Buttermilk? Well…

I am certain the Nordic discipline will remain. I just wish it were more alive in Colorado, my new home state. But I have to say kudos to New Hampshire for keeping nordic alive.

More kindness, less judgment with Mulcahy

I would like to make a comment to Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority, city of Aspen, Aspen Skiing Co., etc. with the ongoing Lee Mulcahy drama that has infested our community. In fact, it really applies…
