Missed opportunity, Original and Cooper

The City should be in negotiations with the owners of that east entrance to Aspen for a park. The current buyers do not own the land and can be paid the $1.5 million they paid for the development shared rights.

The proposal that has been presented to the council requires too many variances and what a wonderful place to have a park at that entrance for workers and east-side owners to sit around that gorgeous pine tree to enjoy lunch and fireworks, etc. The plaza at the Clark’s Market is a good example of usage.

In response to those people who want affordable lodging: Try using what we already have such as Mountain Chalet and Limelight and Molly Gibson. Most of them include some type of breakfast.

I live in Silver Bell Condos in back of City Market. A very congested four-stop area and a parking lot that is sometimes abused by shoppers, skiers and workers. The Hunt proposal will only add to that problem.

What a wonderful opportunity for someone to create a chartable trust to donate to the city with all the benefits of sheltered tax and naming rights.

The council meeting is Monday at 5 p.m.
