Letter: Memorial Day thanks

What a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. It just seems to get better and better every year. Again there were many folks involved in making it work, and I will try to recognize and acknowledge them. This has truly become a community effort.

A tasty thanks to Louis Swiss for the coffee and sweet rolls — much appreciated.

Thank you, Brandon Blocker, for the air time on KSPN.

The American flags on Main Street were lovely in the light-falling rain — thanks, Street Department.

To the Courthouse Plaza gang — Mark, Glenn and Jesse — the plaza looked great.

A big thanks to Alchemy Audio for the beautiful sounds.

Thanks to the community response officer for the Main Street closure — a big help.

Thanks to Aspen Boy Scout Troop 201 for the laying of the wreath and passing out programs.

Lovely words from the Rev. Jonathan Brice. Thanks for your connections and the welcomed sunshine.

Thanks to Steve Child and the Pitkin County commissioners for their continual support.

Huts for Vets and Paul Andersen, keep up the good work to help our vets.

A special thank-you to George Scott and Holy Cross Energy for their help in getting vehicles for Huts for Vets and other veterans’ organizations. Your efforts and gifts clearly show people do care about veterans.

A huge thank-you to Richard Sundeen and Jeannie Walla for their beautiful musical notes.

Thank you, Darryl Grob, for the roll-call reading. Thank you, Sally Glenn, for the six names and most importantly for the four photos to add to our roll call. We can now put faces to names.

A most special thank-you to those people who stepped forward to remember and honor our fallen. I say “our” fallen because we are family — Memorial Day family. We shall never, never forget them.

Thank you, bagpiper, for “Amazing Grace.”

Aspen Elks Lodge, what can be said other than thank you for a wonderful lunch at the lodge and your ongoing support for veterans.

This was a special day and a very special ceremony. I have received many nice comments, and I pass those compliments on to you. Thank you!
