Letter: McCain the hero, Trump the buffoon

Donald Trump, in insulting Sen. John McCain, demonstrated that he has no concept whatsoever of the essential element of heroism.

McCain is a hero for refusing release from prison as a prisoner of war ahead of others incarcerated longer — in short, putting others and their interests before himself.

So do all heroes put others before themselves, whether in risking their lives or otherwise enduring self-sacrifice.

Trump is an egomaniacal, self-centered individual who never, ever puts anyone else ahead of himself!

He is a disgusting individual and has no capacity to serve as commander in chief.

What is truly pathetic is that anyone at all supports his self-indulgence.
