Letter: McCain not above scrutiny

Not so fast on your criticism of Donald Trump on John McCain. He was shot down in an act of genocide. His mission was to bomb rice-field dykes so their crops would fail and cause mass starvation. The farmers caused his bodily injuries. Of course the Hanoi Hilton wasn’t kind to him.

He did get tarnished at the Naval Academy with the lowest grades at the bottom of his class and most-ever demerits. Not too smart. And who did he pick for a vice presidential candidate? Sister Sarah. That was a “crash and burn” decision.

Having an admiral for a father and grandfather did not carry the day for McCain. But he did learn to fly and bomb rice dykes.
