Let’s boot out the incumbents

I know for many people it is one thing to say we want to vote all of the incumbents out, but another to actually do it because we think we are consistently looking at the lesser of two evils.

However, if you are tied mentally to a party, the other party will always look like the more evil. Maybe what needs to happen is for lots and lots of people to go with the notion that, let’s vote out the incumbents on a consistent basis, and then the parties will start to understand they have to put up much better candidates.

This will accomplish two things. First, it would screw up the lobby system we have because the lobbyists will now have to deal with people they have not had a relationship with before, making it much harder to influence. Next, it will serve notice that the only way you are going to get elected is on your past record, knowing you will not be reelected when you win.

Then we can get work done because they will not have to spend 70 percent of their time trolling for money to get reelected, and they probably won’t be passing these pay raises and benefits because they would not benefit; only the new incoming would. Yes, there will be problems and it is not a perfect solution, but it is a solution, and tell me when there is ever a perfect solution.
