Letter: Let today’s generation make up for the past
There are so many references to the Nazis in World War II as though all Germans were Nazis. That is not true. Nazis were a small political party. Of 35 million Germans, only 2 million were permitted to join the Nazi Party. If you were blond-haired and blue-eyed, you were considered a true Aryan and a candidate for the Nazi party. Of course, many were not, such as Hitler.
World War II was perpetuated by the “average” Germans. Fifty million killed. Not a pretty picture.
But the current generation is democratic and wants to wipe the stain of genocide off its history. I wish it well.
