Letter: Kudos for telehealth

The following letter was originally addressed to Pitkin County Manager Jon Peacock.

Thank you for bringing a new telehealth program on board to benefit the county employees. With telehealth available as an option for a simple office visit, the spread of contagions is reduced, transportation and scheduling barriers

are reduced or eliminated, people are more likely to get the help they need quicker, safer and cheaper. If the remote visit doesn’t take care of the problem, referrals can facilitate the next level of appropriate care. I’ve worked in almost all arenas of health care over the past decades, and colleagues of all practices of medicine and I have been looking forward to the day when telemedicine is established and widely available. This is a great step. Thank you for taking it.
