Letter: Katie Schwoerer for Crown board

Remember the proposed 64,000-square-foot recreation center at a cost of over $25 million? Katie Schwoerer does, and she wants to make sure that proposal does not resurface.

A former Basalt Town Council member and current finance director at Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, Katie understands the realities of fiscal responsibility as well as the importance of protecting our environment and educating our next generation of land stewards. She has attended many of the past board meetings and is up to speed on the issues and opportunities to keep this midvalley recreational open space an asset for our community. We need Katie to ensure we preserve this great amenity for all to enjoy without the burden of additional unnecessary taxes.

Unfortunately, the current Crown Mountain Board of Directors opted out of a mail-in ballot. This makes it even more important to support Katie with your vote in person at the Crown Mountain Park administrative building in El Jebel on May 6. The polling place will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Katie has my vote and I hope yours as well.
