Letter: Join Aspen’s Next Generation

The Aspen Next Generation Advisory Commission is looking for a new member!

NextGen is the newest commission of the city of Aspen. NextGen’s mission is to advance the policy interests of people in the 18-to-40 demographic who live or work in Aspen. We advise the City Council and local government on how policy decisions affect the under-40 demographic. It is an eight-member commission, and the vacancy is for a two-year term.

Our priorities this year focus on creating a stronger core community through family-friendly affordable housing and building a strong entrepreneurial spirit via a mentorship program that will help talent and intellect flourish right here in Aspen. By working toward these goals, we hope to help create added vitality for the community and sustainable local careers and businesses for Aspen residents.

The commission meets monthly, and considerable time is spent on subcommittee work throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to learn about the workings of your community, get connected and make an impact.

You must be younger than 40 to apply, live in Aspen and have time to commit to the commission to better our community. To apply, visit http://www.aspenpitkin.com/Portals/0/docs/City/clerk/council/apptapp.pdf. You also may find additional information and an application link at http://www.AspenNextGen.com.
