Letter: Israel needs dove candidates
Israel needs dove candidates
Here’s some really good news about the prospects for a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. A very right-wing member of the present government, Naftali Bennett, who is Israel’s economic minister, made a speech in January. In effect, he said he can not permit the two-state solution. In Israeli politics, this means he will resign.
Great! If he goes, the present government will lose his party’s votes. The loss of the “Jewish Home” votes will force new elections.
Hopefully the Israeli voters will do what is best for themselves and support peace candidates.
