Letter: Finance the feds

The White River National Forest manages 21 million acres and receives $18 million from the feds. It has one full-time worker and three seasonal interns to manage 700 miles of wilderness.

Pitkin County Open Space and Trails has 2,100 acres and has an annual revenue of about $10 million. I love and understand that it does acquire land.

The discrepancy is obvious. The White River National Forest needs financial help.
