Letter: Enough of the crap

Now that signs of spring are visible (for well and ill), isn’t it about time the Aspen Police Department cited those people who continually walk unleashed pets? In addition, the pet(s) should be impounded, the owner fined and the owner required to perform a month of community service in retrieving dog poop left during the past winter in and around town. In that the city of Aspen has a patrolling official who cites people for parking-ordinance violations, it would follow that a similar official could be assigned for dog-leash-law violations. Properly enforced, the revenue collected from these violations would amply cover the official’s salary and benefits, and Aspen’s streets, roads and trails would present a much more healthy condition.
