Letter: Don’t reverse water decision
I want to let everyone know how happy I am that 35 percent of the anti-fluoride people responded to the survey on their own. Also, more than 1,000 people had no problem with fluoride being removed from our water. They feel that the members of the water board know what is best for our community since this is their job.
This issue has been on their agenda for three years, and anyone could have come in to voice their opinion. Many anti-fluoride people did come in during that time and presented resent research on the toxicity and harmful health effects of dumping a toxic waste byproduct in our water supply.
The decision the board made was intelligent and well-informed. They evaluated both sides and came up with a decision that would be best for the health of our community. It doesn’t matter how much money the American Dental Association has, because the fact is that fluorosilicic acid is a waste byproduct from aluminum and fertilizer industries and no one should ingest it. It is insane that the local dentists are fighting to put poison back in our water. The children are the ones who are affected by it the most. You cannot monitor how much they ingest.
This toxic substance is aggressive and accumulates in their bodies over the years. Anyone who lets their kids drink fluoridated water is setting them up for health problems in their future. I am happy that more people are becoming aware and standing up for their rights not to be mass medicated without consent. Telluride removed fluoride 10 years ago, and the local doctors initiated it because they were finding fluorosis in a lot of their patients. The water board took it out, and no one tried to fight against its decision. Many other cities in Colorado have removed fluoride, and 250 more cities in the United States took it out.
My husband and I have been in the water business for 30 years, and we have seen families damaged by this poison. Filtration does not take it out and reverse osmosis doesn’t take it all out because of its toxic nature. Fluoride is in the same category as arsenic and lead and should not be ingested at any level. Members of the dental association continue to give their old information from the ’40s and ’50s. It’s time they read the recent research and realized how irresponsible they are to their patients. It’s all about educating themselves and taking a minute to think for themselves. My only hope is that the board won’t be manipulated by big money and stay with its foward-thinking decision. Its decision to take this unnatural fluoride out of our water was completely legal. Reversing its decision would take the right away from the people and would be mass medication without consent.
