Letter: Don’t develop Basalt’s riverside land

Before a major development is sanctioned on the precious land along the river, the Basalt Town Council should look at what Buena Vista has done with a kayak play park and lovely parkland with ample room to have music, climbing structures, gathering and picnic areas, room to throw Frisbees and a river walkway. The brewpub setback from this area is jammed, town is busy, and the stores and gas stations (selling gas at a reasonable price) are doing great business. If the large buildings are placed on the land near the river, there will be very little land left that doesn’t flood in the spring. Please put the development in another location! Let the river park bring people to town.
