Letter: Donations should be in clean and good condition, please

We always welcome donations that are clean and in good condition so that we are able to accomplish our mission:

“To sell donated goods at affordable prices, to engage in community-building activities, to make grants to other nonprofit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley, and to provide scholarships to local high school graduates.”

We continue to be grateful for your abundant donations, however, we find ourselves seriously challenged to sort and dispose of many items that we are unable to sell or recycle. Please be aware that it is very expensive for the Thrift Shop of Aspen to recycle or dispose of old electronics, mattresses, broken, dirty furniture and household items. Every dollar we spend on recycling and disposal is a dollar that cannot be donated to a deserving nonprofit.

Please deliver donations to our back door, 442 E. Hopkins Ave. during business hours, Mondays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
