Letter: Do Gray and Elias share Goebbels’ aim?”

Do Gray and Elias share Goebbels’ aim?

Recently, I watched a show on the History Channel about Adolf Hitler and World War II. What impressed me was how the Nazis successfully used lies and propaganda to demonize and blame the Jews for German society’s ills. Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda minister, understood that if you tell a lie enough times, it will appear to be the truth. “The most brilliant propagandist technique,” he said, “will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly — it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”

I can’t help but compare Goebbels’ insight to the many letters written by Sue Gray and Sean Elias who use the very same tactic of repeating misinformation, twisted facts and blatant lies to blame the world’s ills on Jews and the Jewish state of Israel. They write these demonizing lies as if they are experts, performing the same role Goebbels played for Hitler.

However, unlike 1930s Germany, today we have Google and scores of trustworthy news sources on the Internet where it’s easy to falsify the propaganda of Gray and Elias. I recommend referring to the site Palestinian Media Watch (www.palwatch.org), which monitors and analyzes the Palestinian Authority through its media and schoolbooks. Many of the messages propagated by Gray and Elias mirror the hateful diatribes pumped into the Palestinian society’s bloodstream.

I wonder why Gray and Elias write their hateful lies, knowing how easily discredited they are. If they don’t share Goebbels’ ultimate aim, then what is it?
