Letter: Ditches aren’t dump sites

To the older man wearing a white sleeveless cycling jersey with a large circle on the back on Sunday just before 11 a.m.: You were riding a mountain bike on Valley Road near Parkside Lane in El Jebel, carrying a huge load of branches you had apparently trimmed from your yard. You were riding around looking for a place to dump them. You went into Crown Mountain Park, but wisely decided not to leave them in the park.

Unfortunately, you did decide to dump them into the ditch along Valley Road. Ditches do serve a purpose, but they are not intended as a dumping site for yard waste or other trash. Next time, please find an appropriate way to dispose of your yard waste.
