Cyclist needs to slow down

Dear Editor:

To Margaret O’Brien, I live on West Hopkins Avenue and unfortunately I do see people drive more than one block on it and also not look “both ways” (“Look both ways, motorists,” letters, July 11, The Aspen Times).

My concern is, why you are speeding down this street at 25 to 30 mph when the speed limit for cars in residential neighborhoods is only 20 mph, especially with pedestrians and children in the area? Please enjoy your morning-night commute on lovely Hopkins Avenue, but perhaps allow yourself more time so that you do not have to speed so that both bikers and pedestrians will feel safe on this street.
