Letter: Creating positive change

Creating positive change

Four years ago, when we held the first meeting of 100+ Women Who Care of the Roaring Fork Valley, we were not sure what to expect or how many women would join us in this worthwhile effort. Those fears were unfounded, as so many generous and philanthropically minded women have continued to come to our one-hour meetings held four times a year to choose a local charity to receive our group donation. With their help, we have been able to donate more than $50,000 to worthy nonprofit organizations throughout the valley.

It is with great pleasure that we are passing the leadership baton to five fabulous women: Abigail Cunningham, Caitlyn Cunningham, Gabrielle Noelle Reeves, Jackie Tracy and Kelly McNicholas will bring a new energy and enthusiasm to our group. All are young, local entreprenuers who will continue to harness the spirit of giving that 100+ Women Who Care embodies.

We know that current membership will continue to support our group and its new leadership and we would like to encourage anyone who is interested to come to the meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Limelight Hotel — as an observer or new member — and see how efficiently we operate. 100+ Women is a powerful force for change when we join together. With each member making a commitment to donate from $25 to $100 at our quarterly meetings, we are able to maximize the power of our dollars and thus increase the opportunity for positive change in our community.

Thank you.
