Letter: Come celebrate Lemonade Day

Hey, all parents and friends of kids in the Roaring Fork Valley, there’s an outrageously fun learning event today. It’s Lemonade Day Roaring Fork Valley! We met a woman at a table with information during the Kids Block Party and decided to do a stand. We’ve had a meeting and decided on a name — “Lemon Heads” — and a location. The participants chose to set up in front of Dr. Ben Makin’s Veterinary Clinic on Main Street in Carbondale. It’s a great location but needs some weeds pulled, so the boys agreed that they would clean up the space in lieu of rent. A small task but an important lesson. It costs for a good location. They pulled weeds and made lemon-head hats and fliers. We have a schedule that is easy to keep, and the boys would like to use all proceeds to start another project they have been planning all winter. Keep your eyes peeled for Kids T’s later in the summer. These guys (ages 9, 7, 5 and 3) are going to make some awesome T-shirts for their next venture into the business world. The thing is, there are so many places to set up a stand, and the folks at Lemonade Day supplied the kids with a backpack of information, including lessons that helped them progress through all stages of preparation. It’s easy! Come buy a fresh-squeezed glass of lemonade from the Lemon Heads in Carbondale! More info at http://rfv.lemonadeday.org.
