Letter: Candidates’ opinion on Power House matters

I read with great interest Ed Foran’s op-ed piece April 6 in the Aspen Daily News. I am in complete agreement.

It is a travesty and a decision beyond my understanding that the current City Council voted to hand over the Old Power House space to not one but two commercial ventures: Aspen Brewing Co. and Channel 82.

That building is probably the last chance for a communal meeting place that might have served many of the disenfranchised nonprofit organizations in our community.

I would suggest that in the coming election that our community look closely at each candidate as to their position regarding ceding the Old Power House building to for-profit businesses.
