Letter: Bad parenting to blame

Bad parenting to blame

What kind of message do parents send a child when they hire a lawyer for their son who was caught red-handed by police breaking the law? Apparently, he was flaunting his misbehavior when the cops saw him rolling a joint.

His parents should have taught him a basic rule of life: never argue with cops, district attorneys or judges.

This bright boy physically resisted arrest by the nicest, most polite police in America. The kid made a dumb mistake. Kids do that. Parents, however, should not reinforce this kid’s negative behavior by hiring a lawyer. Maybe the parents should be charged for being criminally stupid.
