Letter: Aspen’s spirit of support

Last week we celebrated the seventh annual Mountain Melee at the Sky Hotel. We used this year’s party to raise money in support of the Thomas family and their daughter Madison, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. In the wake of Madi’s diagnosis, we have learned that the long road to her wellness will be full of ups and downs and challenges unimagined. With that in mind, we set out to raise more money than we ever have before with the Melee fundraiser.

On April 18, the spirit of generosity and the sincere outpouring of love, from friends and strangers alike, was truly overwhelming. So many local businesses, too many to name here, gave generously when we asked for silent-auction items. The Sky Hotel graciously let us take over the hotel, and 39 Degrees and DJ Dylan kept the party going all day. And above all, the community came out to celebrate and donate in true Aspen fashion. This reminded us all that we live in the best little mountain town in the world.

Thank you, Aspen — you rock!
