Letter: Aspen embraces all persuasions
Aspen embraces all persuasions
The first lesbian couple to join their lives in a civil union occurred last week in Aspen at the courthouse. This Denver couple have been together for 22 years. Their first pledge was to buy a house together and commit to the mortgage. Now 22 years later, they were at Aspen Gay Ski Week to join legally with hopes for full-blown marriage in Colorado soon. They are beautiful together continuing their lifelong commitment to love another of the same gender.
It is good that Aspen passed an ordinance in 1977 that we are protected in housing, employment and public accommodation. To be accepted exactly like we were before homophobic people knew that we were lesbians is our prayer. The Human Rights Campaign is taking a stand to save the life of those who might be bullied at school or work, and most of all save the life of someone who would commit suicide or be murdered.
The 2009 Matthew Shepard Act now declares that anyone who discriminates and abuses another because of sexual orientation discrimination could spend time in a federal prison. Let’s live in acceptance, harmony and love for all in Aspen.
We love our families with the same depth and commitment as anyone who is in love. I am glad that Aspen is a town that embraces equal human rights.
My love to the whole town …

Grateful for Boebert
All the liberal letters denigrating Lauren Boebert’s Second Amendment support are mere extensions of Trump Detangement Syndrome. Gun-haters believe limiting law-abiding citizens’ gun rights will decrease crime.
