Letter: Art donations needed

The Thrift Shop of Aspen is bursting at the seams with great items — and with customers! We could not be more grateful to the whole community for donating and shopping, and we are well on track to beat last year’s record-breaking grant-making year in support of Roaring Fork Valley nonprofits.

Now we are looking for art! On Aug. 8, we will be holding our second annual Art and Vintage Sale at the Red Brick Center for the Arts at 110 E. Hallam St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As regular Aspen Thrift Shoppers know, we do not have much space to do justice to the beautiful art that is donated to us. Thanks to our friends at the Red Brick, we are able to make our treasures available on one special day. There will be something for every budget and some silent-auction items, too.

This is a great time to donate art to the Thrift Shop. We are looking for high-quality artistic works of all kinds, in excellent condition and, if possible, signed or with information about the artist. Last year’s sale included posters (many of local interest), paintings by well-known artists, jewelry and many interesting artistic items that defy categorization! This year, we also will have a “vintage” section with collectable housewares and toys.

Members of the public who would like to donate art or objects, and want more information about how to do so, should email us at art@aspenthriftshop.org.
