Letter: A sensible choice for Basalt

I encourage everyone to vote for the common-sense leadership of Jacque Whitsitt.

She is approachable on any issue. At Town Council meetings, she supports the public’s concerns.

Jacque shares the citizen committee petitioners’ vision for the Pan and Fork.

She wants to limit development on the Pan and Fork, allowing the space to be available for both summer and winter events, art-centered projects and recreation programs. A community center would provide a venue for public events. These amenities would bring the “vitality” that Old Basalt is looking for.

Child care and affordable housing are top priorities for Jacque as a civic leader. She does not believe that mass development is the solution to these problems.

Master planning is another area she wants to expand to help unify the community by creating neighborhood groups to plan development. This would guarantee that residents affected by the proposed changes would have a strong voice in shaping Basalt’s future.

Jacque thinks regionally, having a valleywide perspective on how to create a sustainable future.

Vote for Jacque Whitsitt for mayor. She listens to the public’s concerns and proposes sensible growth.
