Letter: A once peaceful place

I am walking on the ridge of Aspen Mountain out to Hurricane point. The peaceful feeling is destroyed by 5 four-wheelers passing by at high speed and minutes later another 4 pass going the other way. 3 dirt bikes drive by splashing through puddles as I walk on . On one hill 10 four wheelers are all stopped, blocking almost any space to walk up. It is only a matter of time before the traffic on Richmond Ridge will be non stop. The use of that road for dirt bikes and 4 wheeler will exponentially increase until there will not be room for pedestrians nor would any person looking for a walk in nature go there. Eventually It will be like a Highway 82 traffic jam if something is not done to control it. I know it is a county road, so I suggest that the country enforce it’s own rules for county roads and require that all vehicles driven on Richmond Ridge be required to have licences, have mufflers and be driven by licensed drivers. Two young children just drove by me at high speed on dirt bikes unaccompanied by an adult. This is a serious safety issue for all the pedestrians, their children and dogs, not to even speak of the terrible noise pollution anyone walking there has to tolerate. It will happen here if we don’t do something to control the use of Richmond Ridge, a once peaceful place in nature now a highway for continuous noisy and dangerous vehicles.
