Carbondale Boat Ramp gets spring cleaning
An 8:30 a.m. start, coffee, pastries, fruit, rock bars, loppers, pole saws, waders, willows, award-winning bread pudding and more. If you passed by the Carbondale boat ramp on May 6, these are a few things you would have seen as over 60 volunteers converged to revamp the boat ramp at the Bob Terrell State Wildlife Area and Boat Ramp on the Roaring Fork River in Carbondale.
Trees and vegetation were trimmed, raft tie-ups were installed, and a user-friendly access trail came into being; allowing river recreationalists, from anglers to paddlers, to efficiently share this gateway to one of our most precious natural resources.
Major thanks to all of the partners on this great work day: Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers, Roaring Fork Conservancy, RFC River Stewards, Colorado Division of Wildlife, town of Carbondale, Roaring Fork Fishing Guide Alliance, Roaring Fork Valley Fly Fishing Club, Trout Unlimited-Ferdinand Hayden Chapter and Red Rock Diner. And extra special thanks to all of the community volunteers who came out on a beautiful Saturday morning to help improve this often busy spot for the benefit of all river enthusiasts!

Aspen’s student-athletes get a congratulatory boost
The Aspen High School Booster Club would like to congratulate all our student athletes on a remarkable year! Our golf and track and field teams are still representing our school in the state playoffs, so we continue to wish them the best of luck!
Aspen was fortunate to host two first-round lacrosse state playoff games Wednesday. Both the girls and boys teams did us proud! We are beyond impressed with the fan turnout during one of those crazy Rocky Mountain springs in which we had all kinds of weather.
Thank you for supporting Aspen High School athletics, and thank you to the staff, teachers, and coaches at the Aspen School District for all showing up to the games despite the weather — you helped define what “team” means.
Go Skiers!

More grants from the Thrift Shop
Each month Aspen Thrift Shop volunteers meet to continue to accomplish our mission: to make grants to other non-profit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley. We are grateful to all community members who faithfully support our efforts by donating and purchasing gently used clothing and household items. For the month of May we are pleased to announce the following recipients: Windwalkers, Raising a Reader, Mindsprings Health, Aspen Fringe Festival, Early Learning Center, Aspen Elementary Summer School, Carbondale Community School Garden Boot Camp and Basalt Regional Library Music Program.
