Aspen Family Connections thrives on support

In the year since we opened the doors at Aspen Family Connections, we have been honored to connect a large number of local families with resources and services, as well as holding our popular Family Matters, providing support for the parenting journey. We know that children and young people will thrive when their families thrive, and that is our goal for every family in Pitkin County.

Our most gratifying revelation has been the way in which individuals, agencies and nonprofits have stepped up when we’ve asked them for help.

There isn’t space to name the many counselors, teachers, therapists, school resource officers, administrators and community members who have volunteered countless hours, given discounts and been creative, adaptable and available. Their dedication, expertise and energy helped so many families succeed.

We particularly wish to thank our amazing friends at The Buddy Program, Holiday Baskets, Pathfinders, Response, Pitkin County Economic Services, Mindsprings, the Aspen Youth Center, Aspen Skiing Co., A Christmas Wish, Clark’s Market, Aspen Strong, Aspen Recreation Department, Aspen Community Foundation, B2 Builders, Monarch Steakhouse, Aspen Elementary School PTO, the Aspen Police Department and all our IOG partners. All of these — and so many more — we thank you so much. It takes a village and this village has stepped up!

Donations to support our work can be made through the Aspen Education Foundation, P.O. Box 2200, Aspen, CO 81612. For more information about what we do, please call 970-205-7025.

Thank you!

Thrift Shop gives back

Every month volunteers of the Aspen Thrift Shop meet to continue to accomplish our mission: to make grants to nonprofit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley. We are grateful to community members who continue to support our efforts by donating and purchasing gently used clothing and household items.

For the month of December we are pleased to announce the following recipients: Aspen Choral Society, Aspen Historical Society, Aspen Words, Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, Basalt High School Choir, Buddy Program, Carbondale Clay Center, Grassroots TV, Homecare and Hospice of the Valley, Lucky Day Animal Rescue, Marshall Direct, Shining Stars Foundation, Special Olympics and Voices.
