Kudos and Kindness

Thanks for the support

Dear Editor:

I wish to thank several local businesses and individuals for supporting the International Midwife Assistance fundraiser on July 9 (www.midwifeassist.org) in support of the Teso Safe Motherhood Project in Soroti, Uganda.

Many thanks to Pam Joseph for hosting the event, Kay Graybill for design, Dr. Andrea Rubel for planning and Kelly Hart for dessert. Many thanks to Pacifica, The Little Nell, the Sky Hotel, Kenichi and City Market for providing the lovely food. It was a wonderful evening, and the event would not have been possible without all of this support.

Thrift Shop grateful for all the grants

Dear Editor:

Every month, members of the Thrift Shop of Aspen meet to continue to accomplish our mission: to make grants to other nonprofit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley. We are grateful to all the community members who continue to support our efforts by donating and purchasing gently used clothing and household items.

For the month of July, we are pleased to announce the following recipients: Pathfinders, Houses for Higher Education; Pitkin County Health and Human Services, Emergency Fund; River Bridge Regional Center, Aspen Youth Center, Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation, PAC Performing Arts Center, Aspen High School football, Aspen Community Theater, Carbondale Clay Center, Early Learning Center and Earthbeat Summer Music Camps.

Poschman can’t muzzle the public

I express my concern about Pitkin County commissioner and chair of Pitkin’s Board of Health Greg Poschman’s statement at the Jan.13, 2022, Board of Health meeting.
